In a work meeting, “speaking Spanish” is not enough: you need the right register. These ten phrases are the difference between sounding translated and sounding professional.
Opening and structuring
- «Si les parece, empezamos.» — polite and direct.
- «Antes de entrar en materia…» — for setting context.
- «Retomando el punto anterior…» — for picking up a thread.
Disagreeing without sounding harsh
- «Yo lo veo de otra manera.» — soft disagreement.
- «Entiendo tu punto, y aun así creo que…» — the diplomatic formula.
Closing
- «¿Quedamos entonces en que…?» — confirms agreements and prevents misunderstandings.
In my business Spanish classes we practise these phrases in simulated meetings from your industry. Tell me about your job and we will build a plan.
